July will be busy. July 1st is Chicken BBQ. July 6 will be fish fry. July 7 is the parade in Croton. July 14 will be Steak Fry. The Auxiliary has it. There will not be Burrito’s in July. If we can get the help, we will have one in August.
We need people to step up and volunteer. You are only going to be working 3 hours every 3 or 4 months. We need help. Don’t be afraid to volunteer. It’s what keeps the VFW operating. We need our branches to to keep doing events. I guess that’s enough of my ranting.
Dick Mouthaan is still in Hospice at home.
Everybody have a safe and good holiday.
God bless our troups overseas and wherever they may be stationed.

JOANNE ATKINSON, HOSPITAL CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT
Our first meeting on June 5th went very well. We discussed a number of issues such as how we as Amvets can increase awareness of our existence to the community around us. Our past Commander Dan Boutell took the task of either a replacement or repair of our road sign which is currently sitting on the ground next to the driveway entry. Also we discussed the fact that our Post lacks a flag which is a representation of the Amvets and of our Post, certainly not as important as “Old Glory” our American Flag, however the American Flag and the Amvets Flag show others where our hearts belong. There was discussion of holding a fund raiser, or putting cans or jars out to have contributions given; these are good ideas but I suggested that for this (our flag) we who stand under that flag should be the ones to raise it. Our growth will only come from us and how we promote ourselves and the organization we represent.
We as Amvets Post 4250 have had several great honors from the Amvets Department of Michigan this past month. First a member of our Post, a officer of our Post and of the Riders “David Reese” was honored with a award as “Amvet of the Year” Bravo David! The other great honor which we received was the “Amvets Department of Michigan Brotherhood Award for 2017-2018” accepted by Past Commander “Dan Boutell”.
This post has had great honors bestowed upon it as a result of the dedication of those who have made it work. To those I say “Well Done”.
Commander, Jim Hart
