July 2022
July, 2022
The Steak Fry is held the second Saturday of each month although there is a change in the organizations rotation of hosting. Where we previously have been rotating each organization every fourth month with the VFW Post getting two consecutive turns, it now will be rotated every three months. The VFW Post will be followed by the Auxiliary, and then AMVETS.
The group that hosts the Monday night Cornhole is working on converting the horseshoe area for Cornhole. They held a fundraising event last Saturday and were able to raise enough money to do the project which will include area lighting. Hopefully completion will be by the end of July.
The euchre group continues to meet on Tuesday and Fridays at 6:30.
The next meeting of Post 4249 will be on July 14 at 5 p.m.
Bill Simon,
Commander VFW Post 4249
I hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday weekend.
The Auxiliary will not be having their monthly fish fry on the 1st Friday in July
The Auxiliary will be doing the steak fry Saturday, July 9th from 5:00-7:00.
The Auxiliary will be holding their monthly meeting Thursday, July 21st @ 7:00.
Keep an eye on the activities calendar and come and help and participate when you can.
We are looking forward to getting new members and working with all of you at the different activities. With the new members and officers that joined the Post, the Auxiliary would welcome any eligible family members to join.
Be safe and stay healthy.
Jim O’Neil
President, VFW 4249 Auxiliary
AMVETS Dept. of Michigan held their annual convention last weekend in Grand Rapids. They elected new officers for 2022/2023. The new Commander is Leonard Hogan. I’m working on getting the complete new Executive Committee roster. It will be posted on amvetsmichigan.org when I have it.
AMVETS National Convention is in New Orleans, LA this year August 16-20. Go to: https://amvets.org/amvets-national-convention/ for more information and to book rooms.
Locally I’m working on attracting a couple of new faces so that we can complete our roster.
Our July meeting is on July 5th at 7P.M. If you haven’t been to one lately, please join us as we continue to put veterans issues to the forefront.
One of those issues is healthcare with “AMVETS HEAL”. The HEAL Mission:
To ensure the needs of ALL Veterans are met including access to the best quality healthcare (mental health and specialized services) and to help them live longer and healthier lives. These services are free.
You served and now it is our turn to serve you.
Dan Boutell
Commander, AMVETS Post 4250
